Delivery

U.K. Delivery:

We currently offer FREE shipping within the U.K. using a Royal Mail tracked 48 service.

Can I upgrade my U.K. shipping options?

Yes absolutely! You can choose to have your items sent on a weekday Royal Mail 1 day service (Monday-Friday) for an additional fee, available at checkout. Please note orders placed after 10am Friday will ship for the next business day, Monday.

Local Collection:

We are located in south Staffordshire, in the hamlet of Mavesyn Ridware between the city of Lichfield and Rugeley. If you live locally and would prefer to collect your order, we are more than happy to arrange this - please just let us know via our contact form. Orders will usually be available for collection within 24 hours of purchase.

INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING

We currently ship outside of the U.K. via our website to the U.S., Canada, and Europe, though if you live outside of these areas please get in touch via our contact form and we will happily provide a quote.


For overseas delivery to the we use a Royal Mail, ParcelForce, or UPS, Tracked and Signed for service, depending on the parcel weight and size.

We always aim to ship within a few days of ordering though exact shipping times overseas will depend on your location and we will advise accordingly after ordering.

Customs and import taxes:

Please note that buyers are responsible for all customs and import taxes that may apply to their order and we cannot be held responsible for delays due to customs or shipping.

Lost, broken or delayed packages:

From time to time there may be delays or disruptions to orders that are out of our control. Should you experience a problem with your order, please get in touch and we will do our utmost to put things right.

Returns

What is your returns policy?

We happily accept both within 14 days of purchase, subject to the buyer covering all return postage costs, ensuring that the item is shipped back to us within 30 days of delivery. The item(s) must be in the same condition for resale and returned well packaged on an equivalent postal service in which it was sent. If an item is broken or damaged in return transit, we will unfortunately be unable to issue a refund.

Once an item is retuned, a full refund for the purchase price of the item will be provided, minus any postage and packaging costs.

Product descriptions and photographs:
As a small, independent business, we do our very best to fully describe all products as honestly as we can, both in terms of our imagery and descriptions, always with as much detail and history as possible.

It is important to remember all the items we sell are preloved, so a degree of age related wear minor surface blemishes, scratches, rubs, fading, or historic manufacturing flaws for example, are to be expected. Any flaw or damage above and beyond we do clearly detail in the item’s description.

Please ensure that you have read the full product description, including its sizing, so you are 100% happy with the item you are buying before you finally commit.

Cancellations can be requested within 24 hours of ordering subject to the item not being shipped.

Packaging

What materials do you use for packaging?

We pride ourselves on packing each delicate item very carefully to ensure it is extremely well protected and safe in transit.

We always use 'repurposed' cardboard packing boxes and newsprint for void fill, encouraging our customers to recycle these items, where possible, kerbside.

We use recycled and FSC accredited cardboard and papers, acid free tissue paper, non-toxic inks and minimal plastic based materials. We use 100% recycled and recyclable Kraft paper, parcel wrap with sustainably printed FSC accredited branded stickers/returns labels, kraft packing tape and natural cotton or hessian twines too.

Do you offer a gift wrap service?

Yes! Simply let us know the occasion and we will do our best to make it a special one! A hand written card for example really makes for a personalised gift.

We do not ship any item with purchase price details included in the packaging, we ask you to to retain your email confirmation for your records.

Condition Reports

We always highlight an items general condition and aesthetics, mentioning anything over and above what we perceive as ‘general age related wear and tear’ with complete transparency, both in our photographs and written descriptions. We hope this ensures you feel extremely confident, in every purchase you make, be it gift for a loved one, or a beautiful accent for your home.

It is important to note, that all our items are genuine pieces of age, each having a rich and varied past and are never sold as in new condition. With this in mind, minor blemishes, surface scratches, historic manufacturing flaws and a general sense of age and history are naturally to be expected.

We kindly ask you look closely at all our imagery as they naturally form part of the item description.

Please be aware that your monitor, tablet, or mobile device may emulate colours/tones differently 'on screen' to that of the actual physical item, all of which are photographed and shown to the best of our abilities. Any item or ‘prop’ shown in our photography is used for styling purposes only and not included as part of the sale.

Miscellaneous

How are your items cleaned before shipping?

All our items are firstly, very gently washed if suitable, in environmentally friendly products, or carefully wiped over as a minimum if this is not appropriate. There may be some delicate items (an antique wooden box for example) that will still have dust or ingrained debris remaining as we do not jet-wash any item to reduce the risk of damage. In this case their condition will always be noted in the listing description.

We always sell our metalware in 'as sourced' condition and do not use modern polishes or abrasive cleaners, as an original patina, is often preferred and impossible to replicate once cleaned.

All items are carefully packed by a spotlessly clean hand, in a pet and smoke free environment.

What type of products do Roof + Roost sell?

All the items we lovingly source and stock are 100% genuine, pre-loved, antique or vintage. We do not stock new items (pre c. 2002) or reproductions.

The purchase of unwanted vintage/antique items:

From time to time we buy unwanted pieces direct from the public. Please contact us via our contact from with details of your items, their manufacturers details (ceramic back-stamps or hallmarks for example if known) and a brief outline of their condition (chips, wear, damage etc) along with a rough estimate of your selling price.
