Pair of Antique Shiny Brass 'Beehive' Candlesticks

£55.00

This pair of pretty brass candlesticks, offer just the perfect amount of antique bohemian cool!

Gently timeworn, though we feel all the better for it, both are wonderfully shiny, and we think they’d look great grouped by the fireside or used when dining.

Their compact size makes them ideal too, as they don't take up oodles of space!

Key Points:
• A pair of Victorian Era 'beehive' candlesticks
• Heavy, golden hued brass in a matching pair with neat square bases
• Of British origin (unmarked)
• Both with candle ‘ejector’ pusher rods to base
• Characterful condition with plenty of years to serve!

History:

Their design features a decorative beehive column and faceted ‘Band of Diamonds’ symbolic honouring Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. Pusher rods (ejectors) are often missing or broken in Antique candlesticks however this does not inhibit their use.

Year of manufacture:
c. 1860-90s

Approx. Dimensions:
20cm H (8" approx) / 8cm Base diameter

Condition:
A characterful pair, both overall in good antique condition for their age. They are being sold in as sourced condition' and are very shiny having been well polished over the years!

One candlestick does have a loose sconce, that has at some point detached however this doesn't effect their use. They both have some old polish residue and one has an area of heavy silver re-solder to a section under its 'beehive' but this isn't very noticeable unless upturned. Both have some slight 'dings' and undulations to their holders, however they sit very solidly and hold candles firmly.

One of the candle's pusher rods works like a dream, however very commonly the other has seized, though with a little gentle persuasion it may free up over time.

Buyers Guide:
It is very important to note, that all the pieces Roof + Roof sell are genuine pieces of age, each having a rich and varied past and are never sold as in new condition. With this in mind, minor blemishes, surface scratches, manufacturing flaws and a general sense of their age and history are naturally to be expected. We always try, to the best of our ability to honestly and clearly communicate an items condition, both in our description and photography, highlighting anything over and above what we perceive as ‘general age related wear and tear'. We kindly ask you look closely at all our photos, using the zoom facility, as these naturally form part of the item's description.

Please be aware that your monitor, tablet, or mobile device may emulate colours/tones differently 'on screen' to that of the actual physical item, all of which are photographed and shown to the best of our abilities. Any item/prop shown in our photography is used for styling purposes only. Prior to purchasing, if you would like further clarification on any item, then we are always happy to help in any way possible.
