Victorian Brass Boot Fireside / Mantle Accessory
In Victorian era England, boots and shoes were consider tokens of good luck and as such, placed 'fireside' within the home.
This beautiful Victorian example, handmade made from brass, has a fun and quirky feel, complete with a lovely characterful, but shiny patina.
Use it as a ‘modern day’ fire accessory, as a little display piece on a shelf, or perhaps gift it as a special good luck token to a loved one!

History:
Shoes have for centuries, been powerful symbolic items, often hidden in walls, chimneys, under floorboards and in roof cavities. Thought as symbols of good luck and fortune, these were very popular in the 17th and 18th and 19th Centuries as love tokens and often given as wedding gifts!
Used within English homes, shoes and boots have also long believed very powerful, in warding off unwanted spirits and witches!

10cm h (at tallest point) / 13cm W ( at widest point) 7cm Deep including prop
Approx 1mm thick brass
Condition:
It is in very good antique condition, with a beautiful, gently aged, patina to its front face and a rich burnished finish to its reverse. It stands well on its sturdy prop arm, though does have a tiny 'kink' in the metal at the base of its heel. Please see image 8 for clarity. This does not affect its stability, use or aesthetics.
