Victorian Floral Antique Ironstone Covered Cheese Plate
This beautifully faded, Victorian Ironstone cheese plate is a most charming piece! Sourced from the heart of the Staffordshire potteries, it offers a laid back rustic charm, only possible through age and patina.
For a lover of the 'perfectly-imperfect', it is decorated in pretty florals with scroll detailing in relief. Featuring just the right amount of age, wear, patina and rich 'tea-staining' we think it give it a relaxed and beautifully honest finish.
It would make the most wonderful of 'faded' display pieces in any farmhouse or country styled interior.
Key Points:
• A pretty lidded cheese plate
• Shaped underplate and ornate scroll handle
• Pretty pink flowers and gilt details
• Genuine characterful wear
• Unmarked but highly likely of Staffordshire origin
• Characterful condition as below
Year of manufacture:
Victorian Era - c1880-1900
Origin:
Highly Likely England (Staffordshire)
Approx. Measurements:
H: 13cm (including handle)
L: 22cm
W: 19cm (at widest point)
Condition:
In fair vintage condition for its great age, but with its flaws, comes a beautiful and genuinely aged finish. It has plenty of surface crazing to its glaze, loss of gilt to its finial handle, gentle tea-staining and discolouration in patches to both the lid and under-plate.
It has a tiny discoloured nibble to its handle, and another to a corner of its underplate base, along with a stable hairline to its lid. This hairline is visible on its its exterior face but non-problematic. Please see images 8, 9 and 10 for clarity. While this piece is not in pristine condition, it is aged to perfection and absolutely more than usable and displays very well. Please view all images to ensure you are happy with its very rustic finish.
