History
These old intricately carved printing blocks, were used to get the impressions for hand-block ‘Wood-cut’ prints onto fabrics. Likely to be from the Kashmiri region of India, they were made around 60-70 years ago and are super one-of-a-kind decorative pieces.

Made from hardwood, likely teak, with some characterful traces of their natural dye remaining, they'd make a beautifully rustic display, or could be put to good use stamping fabrics, or natural papers for gift wrap or card making.

Year of manufacture:
c. 1930s-1940s

Origin:
India

Approximate Measurements:
Rectangular (Linear Pattern): 12cm W / 16cm L / 7cm D (including handle)
Square (Floral Pattern): 16cm W 16cm L / 7.5cm D (including handle)

Condition:
Wonderful vintage condition, displaying minor signs of wear, consistent with its age, handmade construction and use. They have some small amounts of characterful surface wear, light surface scratches and a small traces of natural dyes present. The linear patterned block has a brass cup hook screw in its handle which means it could be wall or ceiling hung.

Buyers Guide:
It is very important to note, that all the pieces Roof + Roof sell are genuine pieces of age, each having a rich and varied past and are never sold as in new condition. With this in mind, minor blemishes, surface scratches, manufacturing flaws and a general sense of their age and history are naturally to be expected. We always try, to the best of our ability to honestly and clearly communicate an items condition, both in our description and photography, highlighting anything over and above what ‘we perceive as ‘general age related wear and tear’.

We kindly ask you look closely at all our photos, using Etsy's zoom facility, as these naturally form part of the item's description. Please be aware that your monitor, tablet, or mobile device may emulate colours/tones differently 'on screen' to that of the actual physical item, all of which are photographed and shown to the best of our abilities within the Etsy format. Any item/prop shown in our photography is used for styling purposes only. Prior to purchasing, if you would like further clarification on any item, then we are always happy to help in any way possible.
