We love its tongue and groove joints on each corner, indented handles for ease of carriage and its wonderfully distressed typography to both sides!
Key Points:
• An old wooden storage / grocer's crate
• Solid wooden construction with tongue and groove joints
• A wonderful styling accent with lovely rustic feel
• 100% 'Scratch-Made' from wood - both pretty and practical!
History:
Sourced from a family farm, this dates from c1930's and has stencilled typography on two sides, which is beautifully distressed.
We believe one side to read M.L. Moplar and the other R. ISTRY Harrington Lane?, along with some other eligible text.
Year of manufacture:
c. 1900-1930
Origin:
England
Approximate Measurements:
19cm H / 20.5cm D / 36cm W
Condition:
In characterful vintage condition, showing some lovely age related wear that has softened its corners and edges in places, leaving behind a wonderful aged patina. It is completely 'scratch-made' with great attention to detail.
Please note that as it has been very heavily used in its lifetime and not in anyway a 'new wooden box' It has areas of paint, chipped paint, the odd protruding tack or nail, loops of rusty wire thread, roughly cut corner/warped timber, along with a few minor splits due to age, temperature and humidity changes to a couple of its panels - though these don't affect its stability or robustness.
It carries plenty of dust and ingrained debris from a life well lived, so please be aware that this item is not dust/dirt free and hasn't been jet washed prior in fear of causing damage.

Buyers Guide:
It is very important to note, that all the pieces Roof + Roof sell are genuine pieces of age, each having a rich and varied past and are never sold as in new condition. With this in mind, minor blemishes, surface scratches, manufacturing flaws and a general sense of their age and history are naturally to be expected. We always try, to the best of our ability to honestly and clearly communicate an items condition, both in our description and photography, highlighting anything over and above what we perceive as ‘general age related wear and tear'. We kindly ask you look closely at all our photos, using the zoom facility, as these naturally form part of the item's description.
Please be aware that your monitor, tablet, or mobile device may emulate colours/tones differently 'on screen' to that of the actual physical item, all of which are photographed and shown to the best of our abilities. Any item/prop shown in our photography is used for styling purposes only. Prior to purchasing, if you would like further clarification on any item, then we are always happy to help in any way possible.
