RARE Schott & Gen Modernist Copper, Brass and Glass Coffee Set

£95.00

In a winning combination, of warm copper, retro brass and streamlined modernist glass this beautiful design has certainly stood the test of time.

This very RARE, mid-century coffee set, would fit seamlessly within a vintage, mid-century, or more contemporary interior, with its minimal lines and considered top quality design.

Key Points:
• A stunning 13 piece mid-century coffee set
• 6 x glass cups | 6 x brass/copper 'holders' | 1 x hammered brass serving tray
• Streamlined Modernist design
• Ultra thin, 'JENAer' heat resistant glass cups
• Spun copper holders with angular brass handles
• Made in Germany, by Schott & Gen
• In very good vintage condition

Year of manufacture:
c. 1950s

History:
Schott & Gen Mainz, was founded in 1884 by Otto Schott who partnered with Ernst Abbe, Carl Zeiss and his son. Together, they founded the 'Glastechnisches Laboratorium Schott & Genossen', which would eventually many years later become 'Schott AG'.

Schott still produces top quality glass products under this name today. Jenaer glass, is a heat-resistant, borosilicate glass and was developed by Otto Schott in 1887. Boiling water can be added without the glass shattering, so similar to modern day Pyrex glass.

Approximate Measurements:
6 x Glass Cups: 6cm H / 8.5cm Diameter
6 x Copper Cup Holders: 4cm H / 7cm Diameter ( 9cm W including handle)
1 x Tray: 30cm L / 21cm W

Condition:
In very good condition throughout though with overall minor surface wear commensurate with its age and light use. No with no chips, nibbles, cracks or repair to glass. The copper cups have a few tiny insignificant areas of tarnish in places, one having a little more than the others (Please see final image) as to a degree, do the brass handles, displaying a little wear/tarnish but nothing that we feel detracts from the overall look and appeal of this outstanding set. The tray has small amounts of wear through use, gentle scratches from placing cups/movement, but again, nothing detrimental to the overall appeal of this rare set as a whole.

Buyers Guide:
It is very important to note, that all the pieces Roof + Roof sell are genuine pieces of age, each having a rich and varied past and are never sold as in new condition. With this in mind, minor blemishes, surface scratches, manufacturing flaws and a general sense of their age and history are naturally to be expected. We always try, to the best of our ability to honestly and clearly communicate an items condition, both in our description and photography, highlighting anything over and above what we perceive as ‘general age related wear and tear'. We kindly ask you look closely at all our photos, using the zoom facility, as these naturally form part of the item's description.

Please be aware that your monitor, tablet, or mobile device may emulate colours/tones differently 'on screen' to that of the actual physical item, all of which are photographed and shown to the best of our abilities. Any item/prop shown in our photography is used for styling purposes only. Prior to purchasing, if you would like further clarification on any item, then we are always happy to help in any way possible.
