James Sadler Floral 'Brown Betty' Teapot Stand
We adore this iconic 'Brown Betty' floral patterned teapot trivet, with its lighthearted 'country cottage' styling and relaxed vintage charm!
Striking blue banding, is accentuated by a rich stippled brown centre, surrounded by oh-so-sweet and dainty hand-painted flowers!
It would make a superb kitchen trivet when cooking or as a cute breakfast staple, to hold a tea or coffee pot!

History:
Original 'Brown Betty' teapots and their accompanying accessories are distinguished their red Etruria Marl clay, unique to Stoke-on-Trent and a rich red-brown manganese glaze known as Rockingham.
Utilitarian and very unpretentious in their design they became true design classics. By 1926 James Sadler & Sons and Joseph Bourne & Sons Ltd, was making near half a million Brown Betty teapots per week.
This 'stand' would have been used under said teapot to stop any scorch marks or drips on your tablecloth. Though not marked Sadler, (this may have been marked on an accompanying teapot) after research, we have found other examples, (in differing patterns) marked as such.

Condition:
In very good vintage condition, free of chips, crack or nibbles. It simply displays a few heavy surface scratches from use (to its centre point), please see image 2 and 4 for clarity, along with some fading/rubbing to its gilt edges.
