Pretty English Mason's Strathmore Ironstone Serving Plate

Sale Price:£40.00 Original Price:£55.00

This beautiful Mason's Ironstone serving plate, is a fine example of English tableware that has clearly been well cared for over the years.

It has a beautifully crisp transfer printed design over a soft pale cream ground, delicately hand over-painted in vivid green, soft pink and butter yellow tones. In a stylish oval shape with scalloped edges, we feel it's as useable as it is beautiful!

It would easily lend itself to being a stand-out cheese, or cake plate, or equally as a smaller serving plate, for everyday dining.

Key Points:
• An floral pattern serving plate
• In a superb floral and chinoiserie pattern
• Quality Mason's Ironstone construction with hand-painted detailing
• Mason's Blue 'crown and banner' mark/pattern name/number to base
• Produced by Mason's Ironstone, Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent.
• In wonderful vintage condition, ready to use, gift or to display!

History:
Durable 'earthenware', ironstone, is synonymous with Mason's and collected the world over.

Year of manufacture:
c. 1940s

Pattern:
Strathmore (c4792)

The Strathmore pattern dates from the 1920's onwards and is available in both blue (this beautiful example) and green.

Origin:
England

Approximate Measurements:
28cm L (11") x 22.5cm (9") W

Condition:
In really wonderful vintage condition, free of chips nibbles of cracks with only minimal signs of wear or use, that is often all too common. It is very common for this era of Mason's china to display surface crazing due to its lead glazing, (where the glaze cools at a differing rate to the plate and crackle/crazing is evident) but thankfully this DOES NOT.

It has some light surface utensil marks to its inner centre along with one small slightly deeper 'scratch', but this isn't visible unless tipped towards the light, and certainly does not detract aesthetically. A lovely piece that displays handsomely!

Buyers Guide:
It is very important to note, that all the pieces Roof + Roof sell are genuine pieces of age, each having a rich and varied past and are never sold as in new condition. With this in mind, minor blemishes, surface scratches, manufacturing flaws and a general sense of their age and history are naturally to be expected. We always try, to the best of our ability to honestly and clearly communicate an items condition, both in our description and photography, highlighting anything over and above what we perceive as ‘general age related wear and tear'. We kindly ask you look closely at all our photos, using the zoom facility, as these naturally form part of the item's description.

Please be aware that your monitor, tablet, or mobile device may emulate colours/tones differently 'on screen' to that of the actual physical item, all of which are photographed and shown to the best of our abilities. Any item/prop shown in our photography is used for styling purposes only. Prior to purchasing, if you would like further clarification on any item, then we are always happy to help in any way possible.
